X 1333 FP{F. Potts} c. Wop. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. GWB. RE 20 HP. SPRING TO AXLE CLIPS WORKING LOOSE. Referring to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}20/H.26.3.26. the right thing to do is to replace the clips and return them to this office for examination. We are quite satisfied by the fact that we do not get complaints from customers, that customers are not having this trouble. Until I get the spring clips and know more about it, I cannot give you information as to what is to be done in case of complaint. What I am sure of is that the average chassis is not suffering from the fault in question. Some time ago we increased the Brinell of this clip, as a result of complaints, and since then this is the first complaint I have had. The rational method of dealing with it therefore is not to assume that all chassis suffer from it when our reports do not show this to be the case, but to obtain the clips of which complaint has been made, and return them to me for examination.
