This belt should be adjusted so that it is fairly tight and if possible not touched again throughout the mileage. If it proves necessary to readjust it, will you please record amount required by measuring the vertical movement of the fan. We are anxious to determine whether we can dispense with belt adjustment mechanism with these new belts.

When refitting the radiator, the end play of the radiator shutters should be adjusted after the wings and have been coupled up to the yoke and lamp supports but before the apron is refitted. There should be .010 - .020 vertical end play on each shutter.

The correct setting for the calorstat is such that when cold, with the shutters fully closed, the operating plunger of the calorstat should require .100 initial tension on it in order to drop in the connecting pin.

With regard to the undersheets sent out with the car - we should like these fitted as soon as possible. It will be necessary to drill the gear box cross member to suit them using the rear shield as a template. The frame is already suitably drilled.

If possible we would like you to obtain -

(a) Water loss with new matrix unit fitted. This should be nil after water reaches some fixed level. We would like you to determine this level.

(b) Effect of undershields in engine and gearbox oil temperatures and on under bonnet temperatures.

(c) Information as to whether any leakage occurs with the new filler cap and whether there is at any time any difficulty in removing same.

We would also like to know the water level for no water loss on O.B.IV car.
