"INDIA" FRONT SPRINGS.

We are sending into the Experimental Dept. the following springs:-

550 lbs. 4 off. Firths' Nos. C.1984. 1985. 1977. 1980.

600 lbs. 4 off. Firths' Nos. C.1973. 1979. 1971. 1972.

650 lbs. 4 off. Firths' Nos. C.1975. 1978. 1974. 1976.

The springs in question have been made by Firths to their own design and represent absolutely what we should adopt in the future.

The difference between the springs referred to above and similar ones that you have already received is that on the springs you already have the end of the leaf immediately beneath the one carrying the clip was bevelled off in plan, having been shown so on our drawing originally, because it appeared to go in between the nuts securing the clip. As a matter of fact it did not, and the bevelling was unnecessary.

The new springs have precisely the same type of end to the leaf on all the plates.

We would recommend that the new springs are used in your experimental work.

We would like to know, after you have examined the springs, whether you consider we should be safe in placing a restricted number of springs on order for FWB.

The springs that you have received will correspond with the 12 1/2% increase of stiffness used on the 40/50 HP.
