Twin Carburetter on Phantom ll Engine. This question was discussed and it was generally agreed that we still wish to follow up with our own expanding type carburetter as against the Solex we are at present using for the twin carburetter experiments. We agree that it is desirable to follow up the twin carburetter. The job is at present waiting for drawing capacity. Development Programme. This was gone through and passed with some additions and modifications. 20 HP. Chassis. Schemes LF.1447 - dashboard base brackets - and Sch.1231 - engine foot - were approved. Condor Engines. We have had one or two cases, including one of the airship engines, where the nut behind the airscrew thrust race has come loose. D.Sch.800 was examined and passed. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will put this up to the Ministry for their instructions. Schneider Trophy 1931. This question was discussed and it is agreed that we can safely talk of getting another 400 H.P. out of our "R" type engine. To get this with the degree of reliability needed will mean modifying certain parts and it will mean running a fair amount of development work, and we could not undertake the job unless we had authority for 100 hrs. development running. It should also be realised that, in addition to the cost of running, there would also be the cost of rebuilding the development engines from time to time as required. Contd. | ||
