The following is proposed:

PIECE NOS. AFFECTED: A-2219
SECTION NO.: 7040
NAME OF PARTS: Front Engine Guard

DESCRIPTION of Alteration: To immediately discontinue the practice of bolting this to the flange on the cover of the fan belt pulley, and bolt it to the frame only setting it down 1/4" where it fastens at present to the flange of the cover to make it definitely clear. To fasten it by four bolts to the frame only.

Tested: 3500 miles without cracking. (Earlier guard showed cracks after 1000 miles.)
No noise or squeaking from guard bolted to frame.

PURPOSE of Alteration: Found that when front guard is fastened to both frame and engine it cracks in the corners because of relative movement of frame and engine.
