DESCRIPTION of Alteration: To adopt Silchrome No.1 for exhaust and inlet valves chassis 802 onwards. Using 45º seats as proposed by England.

PURPOSE of Alteration: Improved performance. Facility in obtaining valves.

Valves Tested | Mileage | Reground | Condition seats | Condition stems
(1) 6 valves | 5750 | No | No.2 exhause slightly pitted | good.
(2) 6 valves | 11,600 | Once | Good | "
(3) 6 valves | 17,550 | twice | " | "

Lots 2 and 3 ran 7000 miles at end of run without regrinding.
No reason for changing any of these valves except necessity of testing valves with new stems for wear in guide bushes.
All valves had 30º seats and were of standard form.

We propose to put this alteration into regular manufacture on January 15, 1924 unless we hear from Mr. Johnson and Mr. Royce to the contrary.

Tested: See table

Estimated cost: No change. Valves cost 98¢ each finished.

Proposed Chassis at which alteration should start: 802

Cost of parts scrapped, if any: None

Increase in weight, if any: None.
