E.V. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. X 7530. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}3/W.13.2.30. FRAMED PATCH OF INSTRUMENTS. Replying to EVA/11.2.30. The patch of instruments including the petrol gauge has not been overlooked. A year ago it was omitted from the patch because we had just tooled up for the patch we are at present using. We are not proceeding with it at the present time because we are not altogether satisfied with the petrol gauge and are at present testing out an alternative type. We think it is most undesirable to tie production up to a patch of instruments which necessitates a particular type of petrol gauge when these instruments are still in the development stage. A further point which must be considered is that if the petrol gauge is included in the patch a light must still be provided to illuminate the front seats and floor of the car.
