The MIDLAND MOTOR CYLINDER Co LTD. Telegrams RAFWORK. SMETHWICK Telephone 1151-2-3 SMETHWICK Handwritten Note: SWDC & P.des Please send the necessary drawing Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Birmid Works, Smethwick Near Birmingham AEP/LS. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Limited, Derby. 7th December 1937 Your Reference: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/R Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of the 2nd.inst., but regret that the drawing EB.2746 is insufficient, as we are not in possession of drawing EB.1085, which apparently is the companion print. With regard to your second paragraph, we should be very pleased indeed to go into the production price of the 4½ litre Camshaft, but we think you have definitely misunderstood us when we mentioned the subject of percentage of scrap. What the Writer intended to convey was the fact that we seldom quote for a production casting until we have made actual experimental castings, as it is necessary to study many factors before finally settling on a production price. As you will appreciate some camshafts being more difficult than others to cast, suffer from more foundry scrap than others, and this has to be assessed when quoting for quantities. --continued-- | ||
