Mr. Cunningham. Replying to Bly.{B. W. Bleaney - Bentley Sales}16/SM.7.8.36. As I told you on Frdiay I have been able to discover a high compression cylinder head which I can let you have for this gentleman's car. The head is actually the one which was used in last year's Tourist Trophy Race and will be considerably higher ratio than we have previously put on a cutomer's car, probably about 8 : 1. We are satisfied that this head will give Mr. Cunningham satisfaction providing that - (1) He runs on 85 Octane fuel. (2) He has Hall's metal bearings fitted with big ends. If the engine is going to be stripped down the cost of fitting Hall's metal to the big ends will be negligible compared with the expense of dismantling the engine. We should be glad if you could pass our remarks on to C. so that he will be aware of exactly what is being done because in this case you are definitely to fit a cylinder head to a customer's car which has not been standardised.
