C O P Y. --------- Hr3/TB/19.9.23. S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Re:- Lady Vincent Meredith. Chassis 49-PE. and Chassis 1893. I attach copy of a letter which I have this morning received from Mr. T. Coates, Sales Manager of Barker & Co. With reference to this letter, I would like to know if this Chassis 49-PE. is fitted with thick leaf or thin leaf springs. If it is fitted with thick leaf springs, we cannot, according to R's ruling, put on Shock Absorbers. We must change them to thin leaf and then try and get the owner to pay for the Shock Absorbers. Would not this car, as it is out in Canada, want slightly stronger springs than if it was being used in England? I take it that, with regard to paragraph 2., Shock Absorbers with thin leaf springs would overcome the trouble mentioned in paragraph 1. of Mr. Coates' letter. Would you please let me know. If this car has got thick leaf springs, we should have to get a set of thin leaf springs ready for it to suit it, but I will let you know definitely about that when I have seen BJ. With regard to the 4th. & 5th. paragraphs of Mr. Coates' letter, this lady was originally Mrs. A.V. Meredith, and we sold Chassis 1893 to her. I take it we could supply a set of springs which could be sent out to Canada and fitted locally? Could you let me know. Hereagain, as this car is used in Canada over, I take it, pretty bad roads, would it not be wise to fit slightly heavier springs? I shall be glad if you could let me have this information as soon as possible, as Lady Meredith, I understand, is shortly leaving London, and I should like to see her before she goes. Hr.
