33-EX.

The following is a brief specification of this car :-

(1) Carburetters.

The engine unit has the 4-carburetter scheme. There may be some little difficulty in starting hot as the vent pipes are not connected to the air silencer, but the car should be better starting cold than others which have been to London.

(2) Overoiling & Piston Knocks.

The engine has improved piston bedding and should be free from overoiling and cold piston knocks.

(3) Noise Insulation.

We consider that the noise insulation on this car is a representative sample of the best we are likely to be able to do with the Ph.III. The chassis represents a fair average for engine vibrations of the experimental cars so far built. We have chassis which are better than this and worse than this.

(4) Clutch.

The clutch is the best we can do with the Borg and Beck centre plate which is made in this country. We do not think it is quite as good as the Long clutch fitted to 35-EX, but you will be able to get a better opinion of it under London conditions. It is proposed to fit this plate to the first 12 chassis, as to fit the Long plate requires a certain amount of re-designing of the clutch. In the meantime we are getting some Long plates manufactured in England.

In view of the comments on the pedal pressure we have lightened the pedal effort on this car by 10 %.
