Sequence Starter motor pinion.
We consider that the length of the splines on the above pinion is inadequate for the heavy duty imposed. Unless the pinions are laboriously ground in to the armature serrations, side play rapidly developes and causes the teeth to mesh incorrectly. They should be twice as long. On the Bosch two large keys of over twice the length of the R.R. splines are milled on the pinion and we are of the opinion that this all that is required. Perhaps it would be well to let BY see the Bosch pinion alongside our own.
