1139. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}2/MH.{M. Huckerby} Experimental Dept. 12th. August 1938. British Filters Ltd., Aircraft House, MARKET HARBOROUGH. For the attention of Mr.T.Worth. Dear Sirs, We now have particulars etc. of what is required for the housing of the "General" filter, and attach herewith detail drawings of the job suitable for installation on one of our models. EB.4101 shows the general assembly of the filter and positioning of the bracket, also the dimension of the hexagon nut in place of the usual "tommy bar" handle for tightening down the cover. Details of the support cradle are shown on EB.4100 which is welded to the actual filter body. For a start we should like a sample of the above for our approval, the filter body being finished in black enamel and the bridge and nut nickel plated to match the usual finish of our engine. The enamel should be such that it does not come off with hot oil or petrol, and have good durable qualities. We should like to know whether you are yet in a position to produce a job of this description both as a model and in quantities, also if you could give any quotations for the complete job as supplied to the works, and the actual cost of the replacement elements. Further to the above, we should be interested to know whether you have obtained any more data on the cleansing ability of the "General" and what tests have been carried out, and whether any other firms have expressed their opinion on its performance. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
