Request for information about a Buick-type torsional vibration damper for a 25 HP car.

We want to try the Buick type of torsional vibration damper on our 25 HP. car and think you might be able to let us have some information on this type of damper.

Opinion here varies as to what multiple of the crankshaft critical speed the damper should be tuned to. Also we have no idea of the inertia, spring rating, initial load of the springs, or damping friction required.

We send you herewith a drawing of the crankshaft we are using. Its critical speed is about 5000 R.P.M. (i.e.250/sec). Could you send us details of the Buick damper and if possible suggestions for the Constants of a damper for our crankshaft, which we should have to fit on the nose of the crankshaft (as we believe Marmon do) and not on one of the webs.

Can you please tell us who writes the best book on this subject.
