August 20th. 1914. Report on bumping test of longer and stronger Buffer springs of round section wire in Side Steering Tube. These springs have been running on 3" alternate humps at 105 revs. per minute for over 8 hours. One spring only has broken, this time after 7 hours 50 minutes running, this was the one in the extreme forward position. The test is being continued. I think they will be a great improvement on the present standard short square section springs. X68 | ||
