Referring to yours Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}1/M26/1/25 and the minutes of conference of the 24th January attached thereto, we are very anxious not to put in hand any additional chassis similar to the chassis which we are making now. We may not be able to sell them.

We should prefer to wait within certain limits of time for the production of the USA chassis, to which front wheel brakes can be ditted.

If it is possible with the information you have at present, please proceed, therefore, after the completion of the 80 of the present type, to make 8 chassis per week suitable for front wheel brakes, that is to say make the chassis except in respect of such parts as will be affected by front wheel brakes.

A month hence, we can review the matter again.

We would sooner have a gap of a month or even more in deliveries between the completion of the present 80 and the beginning of deliveries of the USA chassis than that you should manufacture any more of the present chassis.

As regards the minutes of the conference, we of course do not understand why it was proposed to make three separate chassis, especially as E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reports that in a short time they will have solved the difficulty with the four speed box, right hand change.

We feel, however, that the technical members of the staff must be better able to decide what should be done as regards the manufacture of experimental chassis than we are. Please therefore do whatever you think is right.

CJ.
