EAC.11. VIBRATIONS. X634 X8770

We were certainly under the impression that the Sales critics were satisfied with 46-PK car as regards engine vibrations. I went on the car with PN.{Mr Northey} and CWB. and there was no comment made as regards vibration.

At the Conference held at Bedford when it was decided to make 100 EAC.11. cars similar to 46-PK - except for improvements to slow running - no comment was made as regards vibration. However, when 46-PK car was being tested, it was being considered from the point of view as a speed model car only, as at that time it was intended to only produce EAC. cars as speed models, therefore, whatever impression was gained from that car, it would have to be confirmed now that it is intended that it shall replace the 40/50 HP. for all duties.

This alteration in policy also allows us to produce perhaps a softer car than 46-PK.

The arrangement that we should introduce the EAC. as a speed model meant that it had to be powerful and capable of really high speeds. On the present low compression engine which we are just fitting to 83-NK, at 1000 engine revs. it develope 22% more power than the standard 40/50 HP. so that we have something in hand to make it smoother.
