Clutch Failures on Bentley Cars.

Referring to H.10/H.3.12.35, the clutch referred to in the second paragraph of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}35/KW. 25.11.35. is a Borg & Beck.

The Borg & Beck clutch and flywheel is very much cheaper than the Rolls-Royce type of clutch fitted to 'E' series, and furthermore, it allows the propellor shaft damper to be dispensed with. If any change is made from the original clutch which gives trouble, it means changing the flywheel. This means stripping the engine. This is why the cost for the Borg & Beck comes out at £23.

The cost for fitting the improved R.R. type of clutch, 'E' series, would be more than £30, as this also means changing the flywheel, while the parts fitted are more expensive.
