Derby................Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} copy to ............hc copy to ............D/BP Levallois Sr/VAI4/GM.18.12.36 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re: R.R. 56 SHIMS. ------------------- Up to the time of writing we have not received the RR.56 shims which you mentioned had been sent to us as per your Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/R.12.12.36, which we are now badly in need of. We think however, that they may have been sent with the parts that have been dispatched for chassis B.74.GA Mr. Patrick Le Blan. The following is the present position: CHASSIS B. 6.BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} :- We have taken the RR.56 shims that were sent to us with the new W/M .030" u/s main bearings and also the RR.56 shims that were sent for the existing lead bronze bearings of this car, and have fitted them to chassis B.260.GA Embiricos. We therefore, now need a replacement set for B.6.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} CHASSIS B. 8.GA :- (Paris Trials car). We need a set of RR.56 shims for all the main bearings except the rear bearing . We are at present fitting the RR.56 rear main bearing which is complete with RR.56 shims which you sent us a few weeks ago. CHASSIS B.122.GA :- (Lang). The above car is being sent to us on Monday next so that we can tighten up the mains, we wish at the same time to substitute the existing liners of the mains and big ends for the RR.56 type. Apart from the 3 sets of shims which you mention have been sent to us, we shall be glad if D/BP. will please arrange to have dispatched to us as soon as possible 2 or 3 sets of RR.56 shims for mains and big ends as per our order n°. 1240 which was attached to D/BP's copye of our Sr/VA4/GM.16.12.36.
