WST 86008 P.1/JL.10.3.33. 2/E To F.{Mr Friese} from F.{Mr Friese} [struck through] Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} NX. MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} TANK ENGINES - FILTER UNIT AND IGNITION SYSTEM. We have had further communication with the War Office, and the wireless side still maintain that we are wrong and they are right regarding the position which was occupied by this unit when the successful tests were carried out at Derby. It has therefore been arranged that the test shall be repeated under our supervision, and we are strongly of the opinion that, subject to Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s concurrence, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. should be present. If, as our report shows, it is agreed by the operational side that the system is good enough even without the filter, the filter will be washed out altogether. If the filter is found to be placed on the battery side of our ballast resistance, the War Office will supply it, but if it is found to be on the distributor side of our ballast resistance, it will have to be our supply. The War Office have promised to give us two days' notice when our representative should attend at Woolwich to witness the tests. pp P.H. | ||
