BENTLEY CHASSIS - BONNET. ------------------------ A criticism has arisen in regard to the length of the Bentley chassis bonnet, the proposal being that it may be preferable to have the bonnet 1 1/2" shorter than at present. We cannot at the moment alter the drawings until we know what is likely to be done with the front end of the bonnet, as E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} is giving some consideration as to whether it is desirable to raise the front of the bonnet somewhat. It is, therefore, desirable to hold up work on the bonnet plates and hinges, if these have not already been delivered. We are of the opinion that the hinges will be used by merely cutting them down to length, but in the meantime we should not involve ourselves in more parts than we are compelled to accept to the present dimensions.
