R.R. 755 (10H) (SL 72 18-7-23) MP 274954B. Y 4604 COMPLETED 7.11.23. STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS. Description of Parts. FRICTION DAMPERS TO ENGINE MOUNTING. Origin: To reduce vibrations. Experimental Test Report: Tests have proved that by adding friction dampers & fixtures to the front end of the present engine mounting, we reduce the amount of vibration. Road Test Report: Tested experimentally on 3 cars. This device can cause no harm. The friction is not sufficient to hold the engine against frame distortions. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} It is presumed that the sheet refers to temporary scheme Lec.1768. It is suggested (and R.{Sir Henry Royce} says "put the suggestion to Derby") that the friction discs & frame pads etc. of permanent sch.Lec.1774 could be embodied in this scheme for immediate std., with obvious advantages.
