All the Redmanol encased coils dealt with in this report are precisely similar to our present standard stabalite encased coil as regards windings, etc., the only difference being that they are encased in moulded cases of synthetic resin type of material known as "Redmanol" Previous references in the present connection are your note R2/M29.5.24 and our answer EFC5/T3.6.24. (The only other coils referred to are present standard stabalite encased coils). In all we have six of these coils, designated TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1/2/3/4/5/6, which have been variously tested both on the bench and on experimental cars, as detailed below, and with these coils there has been no case of failure in ordinary running circumstances. It is thought that a short history of each coil might be given individually. TR.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}1. This was received in Nov. last end was first production tested to the present standard production test for the stabalite encased coil, with satisfactory results. It was then, on 20.12.23, placed on experimental chassis 7-GII on 7.2.24 and underwent a thrashing test. This consists of running the car in such a manner as to get the coil as hot as possible in position, and then determine the maximum external spark gap (between the H.T. terminal of the coil and the central terminal of the distributor) which the coil will stand without [strikethrough]thexanginaxxxfarxinstancxxxallowing[/strikethrough] misfire under the worst conditions of the engine, for instance, retarded spark, weak mixture, and full throttle.
