664 PER BAG. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rml/R.8.7.38. re: WXA-1 - Flooding on a Gradient. With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}18/E6.7.38., one of the disadvantages with the down-draught Stromberg carburetter is that it floods on a gradient when the car is facing up a hill. When we first adopted the down-draught Stromberg carburetter, we were very concerned about this feature. We found, however, that it applied to American cars. We also found that by fitting a drain we could prevent it doing any damage. Provided the driver opens the throttle the car can be started even under extreme conditions of 1 in 3 gradient. As far as we know at the moment the Wraith should be slightly better than the 25/30 when flooding on a gradient. We are, however, checking over our figures. From our records we do not know of a customer's complaint on the 25/30, although there must be now 1,000 cars in customer's hands. We will give you a comparison between the Wraith, 25/30 and P.III when we have compared our figures. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
