Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} RE. 20/25HP - FOOTBRAKE. In accordance with your recommendation and confirmed by our own experience in the Works, we have for some time been turning out chassis with .750 minimum clearance for the rear brakes, measured on the operating lever. JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} has for some time insisted that this is insufficient and he considers that the absolute minimum should be 7/8". We have pointed out that this clearance may result in the footbrake pedal coming close to the floorboards when the pedal is fully depressed. Of the two evils he considers this is the least and that it is imperative to give sufficient initial clearance to avoid the dangerof brakes seizing up. Will you please consider this and let us have your recommendations. | ||
