YOUR REF.
OUR REF. M {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} /C.237
23rd July, 1923.

Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
Nightingale Road,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 19th inst., EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T. which we have discussed with our Works.

You referred previously to the fact that the ignition current of 1 1/4 amperes could be deducted. Is this a continuous current or is it intermittent?

We note what you say about reducing the charging current by 1 ampere, but are not quite clear as to what the net result would be.

It would be easier for us to give a final answer if you would kindly send us a new curve showing exactly what will be the net charging current going into the battery after all deductions for reduced output, ignition etc.

Suppose this curve be taken as being the charging current when the car leaves your Works, how can we be sure that the charging current does not go up later on?

The charging current on 42 - G3 which was under the writer's observation was above your specified output and in the fourth paragraph of your letter you say that in some cases the outputs have increased over the original settings.
