-7- (1) Continued: will be investigated. JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} will be given a set of these wheels and tyres to try on a standard car over his bump test route, to see whether any serious fouling due to insufficient clearances take place. (2) Larger Oil Pump This pump introduced on 'K' series was reported to give heavy oil consumption and in some cases had necessitated its removal. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} said there was only one case of this sort. Mr. Reported Paris was quite satisfied with eight cars on which this bigger pump was fitted. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} pointed out that whereas the Works were providing certain holes for better lubrication with this pump, these holes were being stopped up by depots. Investigation on this matter continues. (3) Overhead Camshaft Engine. Decided to put this on one side now and keep it for possible future reference. (4) Overdrive Gearbox. This was agreed to for trying out on existing car and one is to be ready in about two weeks' time. (5) Tyre Noises. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} reports that much of this will be eliminated as soon as we are able to adopt the larger tyres scheduled for 'M' series. (6) B.III Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/R.5.10.37 deals with this. Re Experimental cars - it was agreed that the first two of these should be built one with and one without an overdrive. The gearbox is so designed as to provide for that necessity. (7) Different type Wheels. S. raised the question of the possibility | ||
