Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X2746 BY.7/J.22.11.34. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} CHASSIS PISTONS. On Tuesday last, Major C.R.M.Hutchison of the Automotive Engineering Co. Limited, called at our Works in order to make an appointment to bring along his newly appointed technical director Mr.A.V.Nicolle, in order to discuss recent developments in the manufacture of the B.H.B. type of Pistons. Major Hutchison agreed that they had been handicapped by the fact that the split skirt type of piston definitely resulted in a loss of horse-power, but stated that the researches carried out by Mr.Nicolle had resulted in them being able to produce a type of piston having all the advantages of the B.H.B. without loss of horse-power and that they had already satisfied several manufacturers of high performance cars in regard to this matter, and they claim that they are now able to supply pistons which can be fitted with the usual clearance of the B.H.B. method without any loss of horse-power whatever, thus being a considerable advantage over the solid type of piston. We have arranged with Major Hutchison to visit us on Wednesday next the 28th inst. and we trust this day will be convenient to you as we should very much like you to be present to hear what Mr.Nicolle has to say.
