6142 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}6/JH. 5th February, 1938. Messrs. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Stone & Co. Ltd., Deptford, LONDON. S.E.14. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter 22A/GPB/GP/9911 of Jan. 28th. and the accompanying information, for which we thank you. Our enquiry was purely of a tentative nature, as we already have a regulator and for this reason we do not want to give your unnecessary trouble and expense. What we had in mind was the possibility of buying one of your regulators and fitting it on one of our experimental cars. In this manner we should obtain some knowledge of its capabilities, which together with the price might prove it to be more attractive than our present unit, or at least an alternative to it. We are at the moment interested in the regulator alone, as we make and fit our own automatic switch and distribution board. We enclose some particulars which we trust will help you to decide whether your HXR type regulator is or could be made suitable for our purpose. If in addition you would still like to pay us a visit we shall be pleased to make arrangements to meet your representative from 1-30 onwards on Wednesday or Thursday Feb. 9th and 10th. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
