Contd. -5- EPC4/T2.11.21. With regard to wiring, it was stated and is now confirmed that we have a stock (sufficient for these six chassis) of non-armoured single conductor cable which we obtained from Messrs. Glovers in connection with the previously proposed R.R. earthed wiring scheme, there being two sizes of light current conductor, namely 70/36's for the dynamo and battery 12 ampere leads, and 40/36's for the lighting, ignition, and field current leads, these two cables being coloured in red and blue respectively. We have also a quantity of 84/25's starter motor cable, probably sufficient for these six chassis, which size we recommend should be used, although we note that 69/25's only is called for on the LeC. Our reason for this is that the C.A.V. and Lucas motors are wound for relatively heavier currents than our 40/50 motor, and actually use currents of the same magnitude. We also consider that any reduction of the size of cable from the standard 40/50 size should not be entertained, having ourselves urged the use of heavier cable for the 40/50. The R.R. design of wiring scheme is not yet received, but it was decided that Mr. Bailey should urge W.W. for this. With regard to batteries, we are expecting shortly to be provided with two batteries of the C.A.V.Willard type, and also two of the P & R make, which will be suitable for the Goshawk, but these are of slightly different dimensions Contd | ||
