We are contemplating rigging up a combined ventilating and car heating system on one of our Wraith cars and wish to take in fresh air via a duct for this purpose. Our first thought, of course, was the Spinney ventilator but we find on the Wraith car that this ventilator does not let air into the car but rather lets it out, and hence the motion of the car would not help us in getting air in at this point. We are accordingly contemplating using a ventilator on the side panel of the scuttle, an arrangement which, we believe, used to be common on our cars. This position, we think, would give a definite in-flow of air and would be very convenient for our purpose. As, however, it appears to be a retrograde step since ventilators in this position are not used on our present day bodies, we would like to have your opinion on this. Are there any reasons why this ventilator position was abandoned, such as poor supply of fresh air, fumes, etc? We would be glad to have your criticisms on this point as soon as possible.
