For the attention of C.H.Smith Esq.

Dear Sirs,

On the occasion of the writer's visit to your Works on 2nd. April last, he mentioned to you that we were experimenting with steering rollers with 0.3125 dia. balls on our Ph.III. chassis, and left with you prints of our F.69444/5/7 showing this roller. We have now completed our road endurance tests with satisfactory results and in due course we shall wish to standardise this design on the Ph.III.

Will you please send us a quotation for supplying the roller in quantities of 200 and also supply us with 3 rollers for test purposes. The material for the roller should be S.82 and for the inner races high carbon chrome steel. The preload should be as on the 25/30.HP. type to our F.61471.

We enclose a further print of our F.89444, as we have made an alteration, as indicated, since our visit mentioned above. Will you please scrap your existing print.

Our Order Office will send you an official order for the three rollers very shortly.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
