20th August, 1937.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.

that this Cam is actually smaller than either the 84 degrees Cam, to M.22614, or the 90 degrees Cam of that same drawing number.

We mention this matter in view of your letter of the 19th instant, although we are aware that the Rocker Shaft centres in the '510' are 3/16" wider than the Cam shewn on M.22614, which, of course, will make the Gear slightly higher in that direction; in the other direction the Gear you have in mind will be larger than the '510' Gear as the box has to accommodate a larger diameter Cam.

We do not want to appear too persistent on the question of adopting our standard as we feel that you already appreciate the advantages of this, but in view of your new requirements as shewn on the enclosed drawing we think per-haps you will consider it worth while looking into the matter again more particularly as, of course, the standard '510' Gear is capable of slightly higher duty than the 1½" Gear you propose.

We shall be very interested to hear from you as to whether you wish us to manufacture the special cams after examination of the drawing, and also as to whether you are prepared to re-consider the question of the use of our standard Gear.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times,

We are,

Yours faithfully,
for ADAMANT ENGINEERING COMPANY, LIMITED.

P.H. Travers
Managing Director.
