Dear Mr. Cowen,

I thank you for your letter of the 1st instant.

I had contemplated sending my car to Derby when I get delivery of the V.8. Standard which I have ordered. I think this will probably not be until the new year.

I am afraid, from your last paragraph, you have not quite got my attitude correctly. If the car was capable of a higher speed, I should use it, but the point I tried to make clear to you when I called at your office was that I was not interested in going fast on bad roads with the present type of springing. I also tried to explain to you that my Hillman 80 on the same roads and at the same speed was infinitely more comfortable and more controllable than the Bentley.

I can quite imagine that it would not be possible to make much improvement on the existing design, and the purpose of my visit to you was to impress upon you that I am genuinely
