X7291. S/W (EFC) H4/LH{Mr Haworth}6.11.29. RE: CONTACT BREAKER POINTS ON STANDARD MAGNETOS. Replying to your EFC/5/AD24.10.29. Enquiries have been made from several of the Inspecting Engineers on the point you raised, and surprising as it may seem to you, not one of the engineers can recall a case of undue burning wear of platinum points mentioned. Their behaviour in this respect is not only not complained of, but not criticised and this being the case, we are unable to give you an opinion as to the length of life they may be expected to have.
