Letter to Claude Johnson regarding the issues with studded tyres and the preference for an old, comfortable car body over a finished one.

Claude Johnson Esq. (2) 6th June 1910.

Studded tyres are noisy, hard, slow and expensive, and should only be used when and where necessary. Certainly not in dry weather on a trial chassis.

My old, ugly body which is comfortable is much better than a finished one which is not so. I keep it in the rough to create the impression of its being a temporary arrange-ment.

Yours sincerely,
