To: Mr.Knagg, Iron Foundry. c. Mr.Wheeler. Mr. Peak. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MHR.{M. H. Rigby}2/RH.{R. Hollingworth}22.9.41. 706. This is to confirm that the original 12 cast iron rings RG.{Mr Rowledge}2599 for use with the wider type of alum. brake drum RG.{Mr Rowledge}2598, produced to an instruction Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MHR.{M. H. Rigby}10/JH.17.7.41 were all porous in the middle; the porosity only showed up after machining away a large proportion of the casting. The latest ring, however, which was machined from a thinner casting, showed a 100% X-Ray and is also very good after machining. We therefore confirm our telephoned instructions for you to make three more rings in the same way before altering the pattern. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MHR.{M. H. Rigby} | ||
