c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} CAR 706. EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}2/JH. 15th. September, 1941. Automotive Products Co.Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. For the attention of Mr. F.G. Parnell. Dear Sirs, Enclosed are some notes covering the subjects discussed during Mr. Parnell's visit here on Thursday last Sept. 11th. Since this visit the drawings PR.906 and 907 have been examined and there seems no reason for suggesting any alteration to these. I take it that the 2.25 spigot dia. on the rear brake carrier plate is for your dynamometer tests; the location on the rear axle as before will be by the bolts. In order to enable us to produce details of the brake drums, we would like to know your suggested radial clearance between drum and back plate lip, and also the amount by which you would like the machined clearance surface on the drum to project beyond the edge of the lip on the backplate. We would like to have your recommendations for these figures to give your back plates and water exclusion the best possible chance of behaving satisfactorily. The details of the various parts shewn on PD.264 and RG.{Mr Rowledge}1647 will be sent on in the course of a few days after the prints have been obtained. Yours faithfully, D.Baston Special Project Office, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
