SIDE STEERING TUBE SPRINGS. X8450 X8430

We have received a note from Ps. (Paris) stating that he has found nothing so satisfactory for curing customers complaints as the 1000 lbs. side steering tube springs. Unfortunately all these break owing to being over-stressed. We believe the matter has been gone into previously, but we should like to know that the D.O. are satisfied that this spring has the minimum stress it is possible to arrange for this loading. If this is so, we would like to try out a spring having the initial set up half that obtaining at present on these springs in order to see if these overcome the difficulty experienced.

We suppose there is no room for fitting modified ball pads to enable us to obtain a little more room for a lower stressed spring.

We realise that we have not standardised the 1000 lbs. spring. We feel we ought to have such a spring available as a workable proposition to deal with exceptional cases where the fitting of such a spring might save the expense of altering a .940" lead to a large box steering.
