Procedure for checking fuel level on a Phantom III to resolve issues with starting when hot.

To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} (Depot Sheet). 308 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR{George Ratcliffe}3/R.1.6.37. PHANTOM III - STARTING WHEN HOT. Correct fuel level is .600" to .625" at the accelerator pump well. This can only be checked as follows:- (1) Remove air silencer. (2) " top half of carburetter (great care must be exercised when replacing leather cup on assembling). (3) Both petrol pumps switched on. (4) Inspect accelerator pump jets; if these leak fuel into the chokes, it will require a new by-pass jet of identical size (060). (5) Car must be standing level during measurement of fuel level. (6) When finally assembling lamp post breather, oil the thread lightly to prevent metal particles entering float chamber. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe} | ||
