To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 3 HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}2/VS.{J. Vickers}27.12.40. Re: GUN CRADLES. Referring to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/ML.27.12.40., we are placing an official order with Vs.{J. Vickers}(Glasgow) to produce two Cradles in Grade III Aluminium to the existing design, but as regards production requirements for B.U.S.M., I think it would be advisable for you to discuss with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} whether he would permit these to be produced at Glasgow. It should be appreciated that it was necessary to obtain a special concession from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} before requesting Glasgow to produce the first fifty castings, and this order is now closed. When Glasgow have produced the two castings in Grade III alloy, I see no reason why the pattern could not be handed over to Russells of Leicester for them to produce the bulk order. However, I would like your views on the matter. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} | ||
