CARBON STEEL WIRE.
------------------

As a result of our discussion at the last Conference I have been giving the question of the carbon steel wire further attention, as in my opinion it is possible to outline a method of production for the wire which would probably eliminate the serious faults which we find in the wire at present on sale in this country.

I have discussed this matter with Messrs. Geo. Fox & Co. who are quite prepared to produce the wire to my specification, and as a result of the discussion some fortnight ago I have instructed some lengths of wire to be produced to enable us to carry on with our experiments and ascertain precisely what is the value of hard drawn carbon steel wire when intelligently produced under strictly controlled conditions.
