Dear Bill,
Neville and his brother have just returned from the Continent, and report that with a full load the shock absorbers were not stiff enough, with the result that the car was unstable, and did a lot of bottoming.
I have taken the matter up officially with Derby, who told me that in their opinion there is quite enough damping for a full load on the Continent, and even if there was not, it is not possible to increase the damping on the shock absorbers.
This rather sounds like "red tape", and if it is I would very much appreciate some confidential instructions, as to how I can increase the damping.
I gather that the brothers Rollason had no difficulty apart from the discomfort of the springing, except with the petrol pump. This seems to be one of the weak points, so I am taking a spare one with me.
Yours sincerely,
Richard F.{Mr Friese} Summers
