X.4342 DYNAMOS AND STARTER MOTORS OF OTHER
X.4359.L MAKES FOR GOSHAWK II.

We would like to correct the impression that Messrs. Lucas' have not had an opportunity of supplying sample machines for Goshawk II chassis.

In this connection we attach copies of R9/G6.4.21 and E5/G6.4.21 from which it will be seen that our instructions were limited to the placing of enquiries with various firms as to the possibility of fitting their own standard (or slightly modified standard) machines. The matter was put up to the Lucas Co. so I am now informed by Mr. Thacker, in the same way as to the other companies, and resulted in the conclusion that Messrs. Lucas' had neither dynamo nor starter motor which were satisfactory for the purpose in hand.

We assume that it will be decided during the visit of Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and Ey. to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town whether Messrs. Lucas are to be given an opportunity of designing and making machines suitable for this purpose.
