Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /s102 /1285 [Handwritten] re: 'M' Series Bentley, Anti-freeze. ----------------------------- With reference to your Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.7/JH.2.9.38., I note that 'M' series Bentley chassis will be fitted with thermostats, and we are instructing the owners to put anti freeze mixture in the cooling system. Our usual practice is to drain water from all engines during the winter months. I suggest that if it is decided we supply anti freeze mixture, this is put in all Bentley chassis at the Works, and the drain tap is wired up with a label worded accordingly. As you are aware, cars may stand in Agents Showrooms for some considerable time and may be sold during the winter months without our being able to supply anti freeze mixx mixture, in which case I take it that instructions in the Instruction Book would meet the case. We also might like to consider putting anti freeze mixture in all chassis that leave the works after, say, October 1st, until February 1st. These dates would mean that the car would go into service either the early part of November or the early part of March. This would save us the expense of having to supply anti freeze all the year round. J.I.E. [Signature] | ||
