Bought out parts.

When bought out parts have been passed, an approval sheet is issued by the D.O. to the Purchase Department. This prevents the source of supply being changed without the consent of the D.O.

The approval sheet gives particulars of specification, quality and cost as well as the name of the Makers.

Conclusion.

The Vauxhall organisation is of such a size that it pays them to have a system worked by a large number of people to keep track of all the multitude of items.

The routine work is taken as much as possible out of the hands of the detail draughtsman, leaving him free to do the drawing.

The date of introduction of a change on to production is determined by the manufacturing side and is based on the longest term piece concerned.

Sample forms are attached hereto.
