W. A.{Mr Adams} Rowbotham Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
(Experimental Dept),
Derby.

Dear Mr. Rowbotham,

Thanks for yours of the 9th inst., With regard to the changing of the brake linings, I do not think that I shall do anything about it now, because I have been talking to Mr. Fedden - as you know he has got a 3 1/2 - we were both fishing together at the weekend, and he tells me that his is just the same, but he has to be very careful for the time being, and I find that the difficulty automatically clears itself up by the time they have got thoroughly dried out, although in my case it took about three hours to do it. After that time the braking was again normal, but the thing that I could not understand about it was that while we had the trouble every time one braked it pulled over badly to the off side.

As everything is now working satisfactory I shall not bother to bring the car in until I have got an opportunity of coming up North for something else.

I hope you will have a good time in America.

Yours sincerely,
John. Howlett
