Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}4/LG3.4.22. Referring to our wire to you re. the above. We have today received wire from you as follows:- ROYCAR, DERBY. STEERING LEVERS NOT MADE TO LEC DRAWINGS SHARP BEND NOT NECESSARY SECTION BENT BY TORSION MUST BE MADE THICKER UNTILZ CALCULATIONS AND TESTS SHOW LEVER DOUBLE RESISTANCE TO LOAD ON BALL MATERIAL BE MUST BE RIGHT - HIVES-ROYCE. We are also in receipt of the following telegram:- WORMALD - LET SIX GOSHAWK BE FITTED WITH FIFTY PER CENT STRONGER STEERING LEVERS AND PLAIN THRUST ON STEERING COLUMN TO MAKE MORE IRREVERSIBLE LET IT ALSO BRING TWO SETS STRONGER LEVERS FOR THE CARS ALREADY IN FRANCE WORTH WAITING THREE DAYS FOR THESE - HIVES-ROYCE. We have discussed this matter with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and he has arranged to put 6 sets in hand, but he is experiencing considerable difficulty in doing this owing to the present "lock-out" position and we may have some difficulty in getting these levers through in time to still let the programme of the 10,000 miles trials car to becarried out. But we still hope that we shall be able to do this prior to the car going to France even although they have to de be fixed after the car has been finished off at the Coachbuilders. The design of these levers has been got out based on the above telegram and the information we have received from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} in his last report which we have now circulated.
