We have had several complaints of the inaccessibility of the dynamo on the 20-HP chassis. In going into this matter we find the point chiefly concerned is the inaccessibility of the brushes, especially the control brush, and we have for some time been considering the matter as to how this can be improved. The following is a report from Mr. Wyer, who has tried out various simple alterations to effect an improvement in this direction, and we certainly recommend that you consider whether the points mentioned can be applied, or some better scheme adopted as soon as possible. "We would like to suggest that the 20-HP Dynamo carcase be rotated about 30° so as to bring the position of the control brush in a more get-atable position, as in its present position it is well nigh impossible to get at or see the control brush condition. If the carcase is rotated round clockwise about 30° this would be much better. It only entails altering the position of the locating dowel. Perhaps the oiler on the brush holder bracket would also want bringing to a vertical position. The dynamo wires could be shorter than at present and be neater. It may also have some effect on the noise, as two pole pieces would be solid on crankcase instead of one." (Sgd). M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Wyer. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
