In order that bearings may be incorporated to carry the spindle of the defroster baffle it was agreed that Marstons should incorporate tubes in the centre of the block. For the time being it was decided to continue with the use of Tufnol bearings for the defroster spindle.

(d) The mark 6 blocks were to be modified to incorporate unions at each end of the water inlet and outlet pipes to simplify experimental rigging up with various fan diameters.

(e) Some time ago Mr. Waring promised us performance curves on mark 6 radiator blocks. These have not yet come to hand and when we reminded him about them he informed us that tests were to be repeated on the latest test plant, and as soon as figures became available copies would be sent to us.

(f) A chromium plated radiator shell for the Ripple has been put in hand and delivery is promised as soon as possible under existing war conditions.

2. AMAL LTD.

Their representative Mr. Soresby was interviewed mainly with the object of discussing bonnet fasteners. We have already obtained the two sets of cowl clips from Amals for fitting to 9.B.5. side plates, but unfortunately these pieces are rather expensive and we do not feel that they would be justified when compared with the cost of an ordinary bolt or wing nut, which fulfills the requirements of the job quite satisfactorily, apart from the disadvantage that it is necessary to go into the tool kit before removing the bonnet side plates.

Mr. Soresby showed us some comparatively simple spring fasteners which it may be possible to incorporate inside the bonnet. These were fairly cheap and we have arranged to have two samples sent to Derby for trial.

We approached Mr. Soresby to try and find out whether any alternative existed in the Amal range which would satisfy our requirements for a quick action cowl clip with a lower cost, but apparently we have in our
